MOFAD and Education
The Museum of Food and Drink (MOFAD) is New York City's first food museum. MOFAD seeks to advance the public understanding of the culture, history, science, production, and commerce of food and drink. We mount small exhibitions that allow students to see, smell, touch, and explore while learning about different cuisines. Our multi-sensory approach to learning uses food as a lens to understand our world.
MOFAD is passionate about food education and offers dynamic, hands-on experiences for students of all ages. Our guided tours and workshops are tailored to grades K-12, using age-appropriate lesson plans to dive deep into the complexities of our food system. Through our exhibition content, we encourage students to think critically and creatively about food, exploring its rich history and cultural significance. Our programs provide a unique opportunity for young minds to discover diverse food cultures and gain new perspectives on eating. We invite your school to be part of this delicious learning experience that goes beyond the plate.
Support for our curriculums and education staff are thanks in part to generous support by the New York State Council on the Arts.
