Cookbooks are more than just a collection of recipes — they reveal the deep, personal intricacies of our culture. By reflecting our collective trends, individual heritage, and shared philosophies, cookbooks are delicious time capsules of our past.

The family of philanthropist Johanna S. Rose donated her extensive collection of 4,000+ cookbooks to MOFAD, and now we are excited to share some of this comprehensive and eclectic collection with our visitors for a few weeks! Her collection includes titles ranging from the early 18th century to the present, and spans mainstream, obscure, and marginalized culinary traditions.

A portion of the Rose Family Cookbook Collection will be available for viewing and research at MOFAD from September 8 through September 25 by appointment only. Please fill out the form to request an appointment.
