Join comedian Brandon Collins (New York Comedy Festival) for a one-of-a-kind, booze-fueled deep dive into the delicious side of Black history. This special edition of the critically acclaimed Drunk Black History explores the rich food and drink culture of the African diaspora, from iconic Black chefs and culinary traditions to the trailblazers behind today’s most beloved Black-owned spirits.

Featuring a stellar lineup of comedians, writers, and experts who are hilariously tipsy while recounting the stories of overlooked figures and moments in Black culinary and cocktail history, this isn’t your typical history lesson. Expect laughs, unexpected twists, and fascinating facts about how Black culture has shaped what we eat and drink today.

Several live shows that Brandon has produced and hosted have been featured in The NY Times, TimeOut New York, Boston Globe, the Huffington Post, and more.

 

ONIKA MCLEAN (Guest)

Onika has been making waves nationwide, headlining and featuring at comedy clubs across the country. She's a staple at The Stand Comedy Club in New York City and a regular at numerous clubs nationwide. Her hour-long set at the New York Comedy Festival left audiences gasping for air between laughs. Whether she's dissecting the absurdities of corporate life or sharing her hilarious take on parenting, Onika's unique perspective is a breath of fresh air in the comedy world. So, buckle up and get ready to laugh your socks off—Onika McLean is here to show you how it's done!

 

Punkie Johnson (Guest)

Punkie Johnson is an American stand‑up comedian, actress, and writer who got her start at Los Angeles's Comedy Store before earning a historic spot on Saturday Night Live in 2020 as its first openly queer Black woman cast member. Over her four‑season run on SNL, she rose from featured player to repertory status and became known for her bold character work and celebrity impressions. Beyond late‑night comedy, Punkie has appeared in shows like Space Force, A Black Lady Sketch Show, and Love Life, served as a writer on Peacock’s Queer as Folk reboot, and most recently starred in the feature film Bottoms.
