Tea, Spices, and Smallholder Farming: An Immersive Tasting and Virtual Reality Experience

  • Museum of Food and Drink 55 Water St, 2nd Floor Brooklyn, NY 11201 United States (map)

We often see our favorite brands neatly packaged on shelves. But what about the people, places, and practices behind them?

Join us for a conversation with DONA, Burlap & Barrel, and Borderless about how brands can build more responsible ways of sourcing, This includes uplifting farmers, protecting the planet, and bringing some of the world’s most sustainable ingredients to market.

You’ll taste extraordinary teas and spices sourced directly from global farms, and step into those landscapes through virtual reality—walking the fields, meeting growers, and immersing yourself in the stories behind the products.

At a time when supply chains are more volatile than ever, this is a chance to tap into our greatest power as consumers: knowing the full story behind the brands we support and using that knowledge to make choices that truly matter.

Tickets include access to Flavor: The World to Your Brain from 6 to 7 PM

Founded in 2014, Dona is a female-founded, independently-owned, tea company based in Brooklyn, NY. We equitably source all of our teas, herbs & spices. Our products are balanced, complex, naturally sweet — never compromised by filler ingredients.

Burlap & Barrel is a Public Benefit Corporation building new international spice supply chains that are equitable, transparent and traceable. Our mission is to end inequality and exploitation in food systems by connecting farmers to high-value markets, helping smallholder farmers generate larger share of the product's value, and establishing long-term, mutually-beneficial partnerships.

Borderless empowers brands to tell their stories through virtual reality. We saw how powerful VR can be for showcasing products, revealing untold stories, and bringing unseen worlds to life. But we also recognized that for many, VR remained out of reach—too complex, too costly, too technical. So we built a no-code, drag-and-drop tool that makes VR simple, scalable, and accessible to everyone. Today, we work with leading brands across tech, food & beverage, fashion, and more—to redefine how their stories are told.
